Curatorial Experience

2016—present • Arts + Literature Laboratory • Curatorial Board Member, Madison, WI
ALL is a nonprofit community art space and arts incubator that brings artists and writers together to develop and hone their work, to foster connections among them, and to bring an exciting variety of creative work to Madison that challenges our audience to see and think differently. In addition to the solo and group exhibits that we have curated, we have hosted business workshops for artists, poetry readings, and jazz concerts.

2011-2014 • Jenie Gao Studio & Gallery • Owner and Curator, Milwaukee, WI
Storefront studio and gallery space in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I curated group art shows, hosted and coordinated events with professional artists and college art students, and led workshops and demonstrations. Events ranged from live screen printing to fundraisers to painting competitions to fort building contests. Through these events, my personal studio practice became a platform for engaging, teaching, and collaborating with others.
