Our Stories Share the Same Roots is a collaborative mural project that focuses on the migration story that all of us share. We collected the stories of our neighbors and our conversations have revealed just how similar our ancestral patterns truly are.

Our Stories Share the Same Roots is a mural project that focuses on the migration story that all of us share.

I worked with the students of Escuela Verde, nonprofit Artists Working in Education, fellow artist Gabriela Riveros, and members of the community to conceptualize and complete this mural.

The mural is located in Silver City, a neighborhood of Milwaukee with a high immigrant population. This is a salient topic for the neighbors and business owners in this area, especially in an election year, where the decisions we make on a local, grassroots level will impact our policies and culture on a global level.

For two months, we collected the stories of our neighbors and our conversations have revealed just how similar our ancestral patterns truly are.
